WHAT IS SEER AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOUR AIR CONDITIONER?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It measures the energy efficiency of your air conditioner. The U.S. Department of Energy joined forces with the Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Institute to create the SEER measurement. The SEER rating quantifies overall A/C system efficiency on a seasonal basis. It helps consumers compare energy efficiency when choosing a new air conditioner.

WHAT IS A GOOD SEER RATING?

In the northern United States, new HVAC systems must have a minimum SEER of 14. Older A/Cs have lower SEER ratings in most cases. For example, air conditioners from the 1990s are generally rated 8-11.

SEER ratings of 13-15 are considered good, 16-19 are better, and 20-24 is best. Bulluck Heating & Cooling installs or replaces air conditioners that have a SEER taking of at least the minimum, with a preference to install units that exceed the minimum standard to help customers save money.
